MRT Stations Designed to Be Safe From Flood

PT. Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) Jakarta ensures MRT stations in Lebak Bulus - Bundaran HI route corridor are safe from flood and inundation.

We ensure 13 MRT stations are save from floods and inundations

"We ensure 13 MRT stations are save from floods and inundations," affirmed Silvia Halim, PT. MRT Jakarta's Construction Director while attending Fellowship Jurnalistik 2018, Tuesday (10/23).

In designing station construction, she explained, her side prioritizes passengers safety and security thus flood can be avoided. This construction design can be seen in Senayan Station and Hotel Indonesia (HI) Station. Her side has designed higher entrance gates on those stations to ensure passengers safety and security.

Moreover, its entrance gate is also made with water gate which is connected directly to the channels owned by Jakarta Water Resources Dept. Her side also installs water level censor in Krukut River. This censor will warn MRT when the water level rises.

"But, if water is still entering the station, we have drain station that provides two stationary pumps in each stations located on the north and south sides of the station building," she mentioned.

Other stations such as Senayan Station will be equipped with entrance gate that connects to pedestrian sidewalk that has 150 centimeters height above the road.

"After all constructions are completed, we will also conduct emergency simulation for all involved in MRT Jakarta train operation, starts from fire, dead signal, inundation, and other emergency events," she conveyed.
